A 16-year-old girl was killed, and three civilians were injured when a military council aircraft dropped bombs on Thandwe Township in Rakhine State afternoon (November 24, 2024).
“A teenage girl from a displaced family that fled to Thit Ngok To village, Ma Yoe Bay village, was killed instantly, while a woman and two men sustained injuries,” a Thandwe resident told Arakha Times.
The airstrike targeted Thit Ngok To village, damaging several houses.
“The planes come every day. People are so distressed they can’t eat or sleep. Now, it’s not just simple bomb shelters—they are digging shelters big enough for entire families to live in,” another Thandwe resident said.
The attack follows a similar incident on the morning of September 26, when a military airstrike on Dwarawaddy city hall and Environmental office, Thandwe town killed 14 civilians and injured nearly 30 others.
On October 24, around 4 a.m., airstrikes destroyed the Union Solidarity and Development Party office and a military recruitment office in Thandwe town. More recently, on November 10 at about 3 a.m., military planes bombed three locations, killing two local residents.
Since July 16, 2024, when the Arakan Army fully captured Thandwe town, the military council has been conducting frequent airstrikes in the area.
