One local from Taungup loses a leg due to junta’s mine

A local from Taungup Township, Rakhine State, reportedly lost a leg after stepping on a landmine planted by the military junta.

The explosion occurred this morning near the No. 5 Military Operations Command Headquarters, a former junta base in Taungup, while the individual was foraging for food.

“ The couple was foraging for food near SAC-5. The husband stepped on a mine, and it exploded, severing his right leg below the knee. His injuries are severe,” a Taungup local told Arakha Times.

The person who lost his right leg due to the junta’s landmine is identified as U Soe Naing, 38, residing in Kanpai Ward, Taungup.

Similarly, on the afternoon of June 26, U Thein Win, 45, from Aung Chan Thar 1st Street, Thein Taung Ward, Taungup, sustained severe injuries and lost his life after a landmine planted by the military junta exploded.
