Venerable Bhaddanta Carana, abbot of Myoma Pali Buddhist Learning Center in Sittwe, passes away.

Venerable Bhaddanta Carana, abbot of the Myoma Pali Buddhist Learning Center in Sittwe, Rakhine State, and the Myoma Pali Buddhist Learning Center in East Dagon Township, Yangon, has passed away at the age of 79, having served 59 years as a monk. He passed away from an illness at 4:10 AM on August 2nd at the Myoma Pali Buddhist Learning Center in East Dagon, Yangon.

Venerable Bhaddanta Carana was the leading head abbot of the Myoma Pali Buddhist Learning Center in Ward 120, East Dagon Township, Yangon. He also served as a member of the State Sangha Central Committee.

“The late abbot’s body will be cremated on Wednesday, August 6th, at Kyee Su Cemetery in South Dagon. His remains will then be taken to his birthplace, Nat Chaung village, to be enshrined in a stupa,” said one of the organizers of the abbot’s funeral to the Arakha Times.

The final funeral procession for Venerable Bhaddanta Carana will begin at 1:30 PM from Sel Myaung Road in Ward 120, East Dagon Township, Yangon, and the cremation will take place at Kyee Su Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
