Toungok, Rakhine State – Myoma Market was severely damaged in an airstrike by the military council on the night of December 3, local sources confirmed.
At approximately 8 p.m., two bombs were dropped on the bustling market by fighter jets, leaving over 50 shops completely destroyed, according to eyewitness accounts.
The night market in Toungok was also targeted in a separate attack, where more than 20 shops were reduced to ashes.
The assault is part of a series of airstrikes in Rakhine State over recent weeks. On November 28, aerial bombardments in the Ghouta neighborhood caused widespread destruction, with explosions damaging numerous homes.
A day later, on November 29, the military council reportedly dropped two bombs on Thandwe. Earlier that week, on November 27, a junta jet fighter bombed a village, injuring eight civilians.
Statistics reveal a devastating toll from the ongoing air campaign. In September, 93 civilians were killed and 66 injured in airstrikes across Rakhine State. October saw an average of one township bombed daily, with 18 civilians killed and 32 injured between October 7 and October 13 alone.
These airstrikes have drawn growing condemnation from locals and observers as they inflict mounting civilian casualties and destruction across the region.
