Heavy Rain to Continue in Rakhine, Waves Up to 13 Feet Along Coast

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced at 4 PM today that heavy rain is expected to continue in Rakhine State, and waves could reach up to 13 feet along the Rakhine coast and in the offshore sea.

“Cumulonimbus clouds are forming in Rakhine State, and along the path of these clouds, weather phenomena such as rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail may occur. We advise taking precautions,” the statement said.

Similarly, along the coast and in the offshore sea, occasional squalls are expected, with high waves. During squalls, surface winds can reach up to 35 miles per hour, and wave heights along the Rakhine coast and in the offshore sea can range from 11 to 13 feet.

The Department of Meteorology also stated that within the next 2 days, the monsoon in the Andaman Sea and the southeastern Bay of Bengal could strengthen from strong to very strong.
